On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11
When the wise men from the East arrived some time after they first saw the star, the baby was a little older. Perhaps he was crawling, or even beginning to walk and talk. The wise men gave him very valuable gifts, appropriate for a king. They treated him like a king and even worshipped him as God. This was no ordinary child. His name was Jesus, which means ‘the Lord saves’.
