12: They found the Saviour
So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child. Luke 2: 16-17
The shepherds told many people that the Saviour of the world had come. God had sent the promised Saviour! A Saviour is a person who rescues someone from a big problem or serious danger. God had promised that this Saviour would rescue people from the biggest problem that ever existed, namely the darkness of sin.
Many people around the world today know the good news about Jesus, the Saviour. Naja and Kito from Kenya have also heard it. Many people in Kenya are Christians. That is why Christmas is an important celebration there.
Christmas in Kenya
Kenya is a country in East Africa. In large parts of Kenya, it only rains twice a year. Most of the time, it is dry and hot. Despite the heat and the long walk to school, Naja and Kito enjoy going to school.
