Kookaburras

Time For Laughing And Being Cheerful!

Kookaburras are big birds – they reach up to your knee!

They have short necks and short legs, but long, speckled tail feathers.

They belong to the kingfisher family, although most kookaburras do not fish. Instead they watch a snake, dive, pick it up behind its head, fly way up into the sky and drop it. They do not live on snakes alone but also on lizards, mice, rats, chicks, or chicken and insects.
