14So Israel [Jacob] said to him [Joseph], “Go to your brothers. See how they are doing. Also see how the flocks are doing. Then come back and tell me.”... 18But they saw him a long way off. Before he reached them, they made plans to kill him. 19“Here comes that dreamer!” they said to one another. 20“Come. Let’s kill him. Let’s throw him into one of these empty wells. Let’s say that a wild animal ate him up.
The brothers did not kill Joseph, but they sold him as a slave. They made Jacob believe that Joseph was dead. Joseph was taken to Egypt. But God was with Joseph. God helped Joseph; he allowed Joseph to succeed in everything.
Think!
Is there someone who does not like you? Do they do or say mean things to you?
God is still with you. He loves you and wants to help you. Tell Him about the person who is mean. Ask God to help you do one kind thing for that person this week.
You can pray like this:
Dear God, I’m so glad you are with me when things are hard. Help me be kind to (name of person). In Jesus’ name. Amen.
