Honor Your Parents
Exodus 20:8-10, 12

8“Remember to keep the Sabbath day holy. 9Do all of your work in six days. 10But the seventh day is a Sabbath in honor of the LORD your God. Do not do any work on that day. 12“Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving you.”

God gave the people a special day called the Sabbath. They should rest and think about God. He also wanted them to show respect for their parents.

 

Think!

God gave you parents to help you. He expects you to honor them. Be kind to them. Listen to them and do what they say. God is pleased when you do these things.

Tell your parents you want to honor them. Ask them to tell you when you are doing well. Ask them to remind you when you forget. Look for one way to honor them each day.

 

You can pray like this:

Dear God, thank you for my parents. Help me honor them each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
