Blind Bartimaeus
Mark 10:46-47

46 And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Bartimaeus called Jesus “Son of David” (from the family of King David). He must have heard about people Jesus had healed. He must have believed Jesus was the one God promised to send. He knew Jesus could help him.

Think!

Only Jesus could help Bartimaeus. Jesus is God—He can do anything! Bartimaeus asked Jesus to have mercy on him—to show him kindness he didn’t deserve. If Jesus has saved you from your sins, He can help you with your problems too. He is a merciful God. He wants you to tell Him your problems. He may take them away or help you go through them. But He will be with you no matter what!

You can pray like this:

Dear God, thank you for your mercy. I trust you to help me with my problems. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
