Jesus went to the place of worship in Jerusalem.
41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.
A temple was a place of worship. When people came to the temple, they brought money as an offering to God. A woman came whose husband had died. She gave money to God even though she was poor.
Think!
Does your church take an offering? Giving money in that offering helps your church do God’s work. Maybe you have some money you could give. But there are other things you can give to God too. You can give your time or talents (things you’re good at) to serve Him. You do not give to God so He will love you more—He already loves you! You give to God to show your love for Him.
You can pray like this:
Dear God, thank you for all you have given to me. Help me give back to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
