The man we read about before asked Jesus how he could live forever with God.
19 You know the commandments [rules]: “Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness [lie], Do not defraud [cheat], Honor your father and mother.” 20 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.”
Jesus reminded the man of some of God’s rules. Do not kill anyone. Do not take someone else’s husband or wife. Do not steal, lie, or cheat. Respect your parents.
Think!
God gave us rules to obey. Do you always obey? No one does. God’s rules help us know we are sinners. Only Jesus kept all of God’s rules. He is God’s Son and He is perfect. He died for your sin and if you trust Him as your Savior, He will forgive you. You are not perfect like God. But if you love God you will try to obey Him. Ask Him to help you obey this week.
Write a note to God, thanking Him for sending Jesus to die for you. Ask Him to help you obey His rules.
You can pray like this:
Dear God, (read your note to God as a prayer). In Jesus’ name. Amen.
