Be Quiet
Mark 15:2-5

Jesus was brought before the Roman ruler whose name was Pilate.

2 And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” 3 And the chief priests accused him of many things. 4 And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” 5 But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.

Jesus had not done anything wrong. People told lies at His trial. Jesus did not try to save Himself. He was willing to die for us. He knew that was God’s plan.

Think!

Jesus knew that sometimes it is best to be quiet. Maybe you are teased because you love Jesus. Do you get angry and say mean things back? God says, “For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil” (1 Peter 3:17). Next time you get upset, stop. Ask God what He wants. It may be a time to be quiet.

You can pray like this:

Dear God, help me to know when I should speak up and when I should be quiet. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
