Jesus and his friends were having the Passover meal.
22 And as they were eating, he took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to them, and said, “Take; this is my body.” 23 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, and they all drank of it. 24 And he said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many.”
This was a very special meal. Jesus did this to remind his followers of His death for sin. The bread reminds us that Jesus gave His body when he died on the cross. The cup helps us remember that Jesus’ blood paid for our sin.
Think!
Churches have a special time called Communion or the Lord’s Supper. Jesus’ followers take a small piece of bread and a sip of juice like His disciples did at their special meal. It is to remind you of what Jesus did for you when He died on the cross. He gave His body and blood so God could forgive your sin. It is good to remember what Jesus did for you.
You can pray like this:
Dear God, Thank you for sending Jesus to Earth to die for my sin. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
