Do You Understand?
Acts 8:30-31 + 35

30 So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus.

The man was reading a part of the Bible that told about what would happen to Jesus. God sent Philip to help the man understand.

Think!

Sometimes you might have trouble understanding things you read in the Bible. That’s why God has chosen some people to be teachers and pastors. They study God’s Word and read what others have written about it. They are able to help us understand what we read. Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand the Bible. God wants you to understand His Word.

You can pray like this:

Dear God, thank you for those who help us understand Your Word. Help me to listen when they teach. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
